Sav's Grill & West African Cuisine opened its doors in September 2008 and began serving up the flavors of Africa to the hungry patrons of Lexington, Kentucky. How did West African cuisine make its way into this community? Here is the story...
Mamadou "Sav" Savané grew up in Guinea, West Africa and gleaned his cooking skills from his talented mother and sisters. Sav met his wife, Rachel, when she was serving as a Peace Corps volunteer near his village. They moved to Lexington, Rachel's home prior to Peace Corps life, and started their family. Sav spent many years cooking and grilling for family and friends and finally made his dream come true by opening his own restaurant on South Lime. Come on in and savor the flavors that make his cuisine unique. Bowls of rice smothered in rich African sauces like "Peanut Goat" and "Mafen Veg" are just the beginning of what you'll experience at this restaurant which has become a favorite of the community of food-lovers in Lexington and beyond!
